Hello OpenStreetMap Sweden,
Today, I would like to share an updated MapRoulette challenges created by TomTom, aimed at improving the quality and accuracy of OpenStreetMap data in Sweden. Sweden - Fix Spiky Buildings
- Goal: This challenge targets buildings with potentially inaccurate geometry, specifically those featuring very sharp angles (less than 15 degrees between walls meeting at a node). While most building corners are near 90 degrees, these sharp angles often indicate mapping errors.
- Why it matters: Accurate building shapes are crucial for urban planning, emergency response, navigation, and overall map quality and aesthetics.
- How tasks were created: TomTom identified building geometries where the angle between two connected walls at a node is less than 15 degrees.
- Important Note: Some buildings genuinely have sharp angles due to design (e.g., historical or unique architecture), or might represent combined multi-part buildings. Please investigate carefully and mark tasks as “Not an Issue” if the geometry accurately reflects reality.
If you have any comments, feedback, or inquiries about these challenges, please feel free to contact me by replying to this message, via email, or through direct messaging.
Regards,
Salim
