According to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:swimming_pool (which should probably be linked more prominently from the leisure=swimming_pool wiki page), wading_pools are basically the pool areas you can stand in, but not limited to children, so they are something completely different from paddling pools or children’s pools. (If I understand correctly)
