As a user, I did not find any way to enable One Time Password (OTP) in openstreetmap login (to map). So my question is simple: is this planning some how or not?
I don’t think so. Issue for 2fa/OTP is still opened: Add optional two-factor authentication for user accounts · Issue #3476 · openstreetmap/openstreetmap-website · GitHub
As a user I think it is fundamental as a security feature. Good reference to promote that is this
Wherefore you need “security” for an OSM account?
In the world we live in today everything has a value. As a response to recent vandalism a rate limit for new accounts was initroduced.
For a person that wants to vandalize this increases the value of an old account. If security can be breached by for example guessing a password or buying an account on a market place. This will create a way to bypass the limits.
The same goes for any account. As an example this site presents information of how much an account is worth in dollars. (I’m not able to verify or vouch for it’s accuracy).
This is just one example of why security is important.
