JOSM has the exact same feature built-in: View→Viewport Following (Ctrl+Shift+F). You can easily create a line that way as well, and with utilsplugin2’s Selection→Select Way Nodes (Ctrl+Shift+N) or Selection→Adjacent Nodes (E) you can select all nodes to tag them at once. Good idea for mapping of power lines!
