It probably wouldn’t be enough on its own. Even mappers who do check wiki documentation don’t recheck it for every type of object every time they map, so are unlikely to notice a few sentences changing in the wiki.The proposal process is far from perfect but at least it spreads knowledge of wiki changes a bit more broadly, e.g. through WeeklyOSM.
